i don't celebrate christmas but in its place which is sad i know.

we have present day.

Yeah, it's tough to pick up something that doesn't have a past with you. I only know of christmas trees from my neighbor friend across the street when I was growing up. I liked the smell most of all as well as the warm glow from the lights.

I think it's a great idea to have a present day. Nothing wrong with making that your special day.

I Remember........

when my mom first started to study in the 1960's the first kh and congregation we went to was a big open room over a grocery store.

i remember in the 1970's having circuit assemblies in rented facilities the local brothers would arrange for.

i remember three regular accounts, donations for the society, donations for the local congregation/kh, and the literature account.

I think along the lines of - Russell spinning his own crazy thoughts into a racket, and yet believing it in the end. And once it took off, you have the clever charlatan like Rutherford who knew what a money maker it could be, taking control.

So it is like a two headed dragon. Deluded men who believe they are anointed and making decisions that affect millions are one side. The other is just cold calculating businessmen with probably a few psychopaths and sociopaths thrown in. You'd be surprised how often psychopaths get up the ladder in the business world as well as lawyers. They don't have a conscience to bother them.

Bible is good if we look for implied truth

If this is the state of affairs with humans, it is pointless for God to communicate with them! This is the irony from the Bible, the so-called written communication of God that it is pointless for God to communicate with humans.

Interesting that is your conclusion. Is this yours alone or is it shared by others? What I gather from this, is that you are saying the bible is about how hard God has tried to help people, guide them etc, and for all his efforts he has to walk away defeated by people who just won't listen. But the bible in your opinion, is only a so-called written communication. So you don't believe the bible is from God.

What is from god then, from your beliefs? Nature - dreams - existence? Does God communicate with you or anyone? Is it just observance, a feeling, a revelation from a long dead person? Do you have written communications from god? or gods. Is someone reincarnated so they have special information?

Your information, as implied, is presented by you in the hope that enlightenment will occur to us that read the posts. But the actual content is much like the bible.

this has always baffled me.

that is why was satan and his demons allowed to be in heaven for so long after they split from god?.

if we did that then we are out of the congregation, members are shunned and also kicked out of families homes.

Why the move to Warwick?

i've seen a lot of posts around and about warwick and the goings on there but was curious as to people's theories on why the move to warwick?

granted there's the obvious point about all of the money from the sale of properties in brooklyn but for as massive as warwick is, the purchase of an apartment complex there, multiple sites and buildings i would be surprised if they had much left from all of the profits.

so beyond a financial incentive why move?

I also think (after seeing the infamous sprinkling of the protesters) that they feel more secure and able to "defend" their new home. No pesky protesters on their very doorstep. If people do protest, it's not in the big city where thousands may see it as opposed to the smaller amount driving by at Warwick.

There was a program on this years ago. They could tell by ancient pottery that the field had changed since it was made. I seem to remember reading that they thought it was close to switching a few years ago. Guess it's like Armeggedon, always coming but not here yet.

i have thought long and hard about this, you know in those midnight hours.. you will probably string me alive in what i say, but here you go-.

i feel that the jw's do have the truth.

i do agree with the doctrines and biblical exgenesis they propound.i do feel that they have the 'truth' i do understand they are imperfect, and i think they have had to 'refine' their teachings as time has gone on-and change accordingly- i see nothing wrong with this.

For the many years in service you've done, you have probably run into almost every religious group. They, more than likely, were taught by their parents to accept the religion as truth. How many of those say the same things you are now saying? How many did you convince to leave their religion? I'm sure you found many to be nice and you wished they would accept "the truth" that you had. But if you talked with them a few times, you would find that they couldn't see "the truth" about their religion.

Each person has a reason why they won't leave their "truth". What is yours? Fear that god will kill you? There may be nothing after death? Only you know.

As regards the child abuse the WT hides - remember that the Catholic Church hid this also. They didn't clean up from the inside out, it took others on the outside to do it. And when it came to light, did all of the members of this church leave because really, how could God approve of such heartless deception? No, they stuck with it and made excuses. I think that when this abuse is revealed in the WT, many will still stay and find excuses for them. After all, didn't the GB just admit they are human and makes mistakes? Thousands of the same "mistake" result in thousands of children suffering. Is that really a mistake?
